Dry Eyes and Lid Care
Ocular Surface Disease
Ocular Surface Disease is a multifactorial condition affecting the quality of the tear film —either from inflammation, reduced production of tears, quick evaporation or a combination.
Management of Dry Eye Syndrome and Ocular Surface Disease for optimal vision and comfort is a priority in our practice.
Coastal Woods Vision has invested in new imaging technology with the Meridia Pro instrument and ongoing doctor and staff education as treatment options continue to advance over time.
Why are Healthy Eyelids Important?
Your eyelids are far more than lashes and skin. They can build up an excessive amount of oily residue, bacteria, biofilm and even demodex mites. This accumulation is typically subtle and hard to see with the naked eye. A thorough eye exam is necessary to detect problems on your eyelids that can make dry eye symptoms worse.
Chronic Symptoms
Do you wake up with red, crusty eyes that are hard to open? Are your eyes gritty, watery, and blurry throughout the day? As ocular surface disease symptoms worsen, reading, driving, and computer work may become really frustrating.
ZEST
ZEST, or Zocular Eyelid System Treatment, is a gentle, clinically effective office procedure. It uses a patented system known as Zokrex, which uses activated okra. It is a great in-office lid cleanser option unlike any other eye care product for ocular surface disease and blepharitis. In most cases, your eyes look and feel better immediately.
ZEST uses Zocuswabs to bind and lift away all of the eyelid debris with surgical precision, which deep cleans and optimizes the health of your eyelids without any discomfort. After you receive the ZEST treatment in our office, there are several options for an at-home regimen to maintain and accentuate the benefits from ZEST.
